Fort Morgan Alabama

What we love about Fort Morgan

A little about Gulf Shores and Fort Morgan...In case you aren't familiar with the Fort Morgan area, Fort Morgan is 15-20 minutes west of the main Gulf Shores beaches, and it situated further down the peninsula.
It is quieter, much less crowded, and primarily has rental homes and full-time residents. There are very few "public access" areas, and you will not find large parking lots for beachgoers. What you will find are beautiful beaches, more locals, and a few small restaurants and markets.
  • Temperature
    • July is the warmest month, with average highs of 89 degrees
    • January is the coolest, with average highs of 59 degrees
    • May through September generally average above 80 degrees
  • Average Water Temp:
    • Summer water temps are generally in the low to mid 80s and can reach nearly 88 degrees.
    • Winter water temps drop down into the low 60s and can get as low as upper 50s.
  • Average Rainfall: generally, 4-5 inches per month, with a little more in July and August. Storms often pass quickly, so even a day that is forecasted for rain can provide a lot of fun in the sun as well.
If you have never been to Fort Morgan or are returning to visit, Our Beach and Footprints will surpass all your expectations.

History

The Fort Morgan Historic Site is located on Mobile Point on the Fort Morgan Peninsula along the Alabama Gulf Coast. Managed by the Alabama Historical Commission, the Fort Morgan Historic Site was built in 1864 and played a key role during the Civil War Battle of Mobile Bay. The 479-acre site was Alabama's largest permanent military post between 1900 and 1923.

Today the site stands as a National Historic Landmark. Walk through the museum at Fort Morgan Historic Site to learn about the military history of Mobile Point from 1814 to 1945 via photographs, weaponry, letters. uniforms, and artifacts from soldiers during that time.
